So which should you buy?

My personal favorite concealer brush is the Smashbox blurring brush. Ever since I started using this brush I haven’t used foundation, all I use now is concealer and some finishing powder. But if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly, longer-lasting brush then you should go with the Simply Essentials Flat Concealer Brush.

How to use a concealer brush

Concealer brushes are tiny makeup brushes that are used to conceal spots or other flaws on the skin. Concealer is only as good as the brush you use to apply it. It aids in the blend-in of concealer on your skin for perfect skin.

The methods of using a concealer brush successfully are as follows:

  • To conceal a specific area using a concealer brush, dab a small amount of product onto the brush and gently apply to the desired region. Blemishes, under-eye bags, acne scars, and pimples are all examples of this.
  • Blend the product into the rest of the skin all around margins avoiding clearing away the main emphasis point after the region is covered.
  • Blend until you get an even finish and skin that looks perfect.
  • Make sure to apply setting powder or spray for long-lasting wear.

Natural vs. synthetic bristles

Concealer brushes are often made of synthetic bristles. Because you’ll most likely be using creamy or liquid products, you’ll want to be able to fully clean your brushes on a frequent basis, and natural brushes are notoriously difficult to clean.  Taklon is a high-quality synthetic bristle that should be on your radar if you’re looking for cruelty-free cosmetic brushes.

How to properly maintain your brushes

When it comes to painting on canvas, high-quality brushes are required. Cosmetics brushes are essential in the world of makeup. Isn’t that correct? But, like any instrument, they require careful loving care, which you should provide to your beauty brushes.

They’ll cast a curse on you if you don’t, and your face will break out! So, here’s how to clean your brushes correctly so they’re bacteria-free and you don’t get zits! Are you willing to get your hands a little dirty?

Materials you’ll need

Gather the following items: a plate, paper towels, a spa cleaning glove, olive oil, and Dawn antibacterial dishwashing.  Dawn dish soap is recommended by makeup artists because of its excellent degreasing qualities.

Step one

Pour some liquid soap on one side, then olive oil on the other. Swirl your makeup brush where the soap and oil meet, then swirl some more until you feel like you have enough product. In the palm of your hand, you’ll swirl the brush. Whirl and swirl until you’re satisfied that it’s clean enough. Carry on like this until you’ve cleaned all of your brushes.

It’s time to rinse them when you’ve finished cleaning them. Only use lukewarm water to clean your makeup brushes since this is the optimum temperature for their bristles. Also, make sure the bristles of the brush are at the bottom and facing downwards. If you hold the cosmetic brush sideways, water will seep into the brush, causing the glue that binds the bristles together to break down.

Step 2

Now it’s time to get the spa cleaning glove involved. Put on the glove and start swirling away with your brushes. If they don’t seem to have enough soap in them still, go ahead and add a little bit more Dawn on your glove. Keep cleaning the brush until the water and bubbles become clear.

Once you’re done that, thoroughly rinse the brush through lukewarm water. Then go ahead and squeeze down on the bristles to remove any excess water. Do not twist or ‘ring’ the bristles as it will rip out a few and cause damage in the future.

Lastly, lay out some paper towels and line your brushes upon them. Let them air dry and see how clean they are!

Although cleaning your makeup brushes may seem like a long, never-ending chore, you will see how worth cleaning them is when you go to do your makeup again.

Question: Can you use a brush to blend out concealer?

Answer: Yes. If you apply your concealer with a flat brush, you’ll want a small buffing brush to help blend out your concealer. With a buffing brush, you can accomplish a well-blended, no lines, complete coverage concealer.

Question: Is applying concealer with a brush or sponge better?

Answer: Use a brush to apply a product from the bottle to the face. Use a sponge to integrate the placed substance into the skin as smooth as possible. Use a stippling brush to apply foundation and concealer as needed, then blend with a sponge once over the face for a flawless finish.

If you have a preferred way of doing it, go ahead and do it that way. It’s best to do your makeup the way you like, that way you’re not trying something and it doesn’t turn out the way you want. But if you do want to try new techniques, make sure to have some practice before going out.

Question: How can I fix my cakey concealer?

Answer: Applying concealer on dry skin may be disastrous; drier formulas can cling to wrinkles and make under-eyes look like sandpaper. For the day, use light and moisturizing concealer to get rid of that cakey look.

Best Concealer Brush: Final Thoughts

Concealer is the hidden star of your makeup kit when it comes to staples. After all, concealer is generally the first thing you go for when you notice a new pimple or need to fool your friends into thinking you had a good night’s sleep. However, while concealer may give you a perfect finish, if you don’t use the correct tools to apply it, you won’t be able to get the most out of it. To produce a masterpiece, much like an artist in front of a canvas, the appropriate brushes are required. What do you think?
