Covergirl is one of the most recognizable makeup brands because of its affordability. Not only that, but their products work well despite their drugstore status.
The Covergirl foundation line is especially popular and is recommended by makeup artists and experts. Did you know that Covergirl is the leading drugstore foundation brand in the US? Their Covergirl Plus Olay Simply Ageless foundation is the most popular, as we will cover later in the article. They’re one of my all-time favorite drugstore foundation brands!
But is Simply Ageless the only foundation that Covergirl offers? They have an extensive line of foundations, so anyone can find the product they’re looking for. They also have a range of formulas, from liquid all the way to mattifying powders. Take a look!
Clean Fresh Skin Milk Foundation
If you’re looking for a Covergirl foundation without harsh ingredients and dangerous chemicals, the Clean Fresh Skin Milk foundation is what you’re looking for. If you’re passionate about clean beauty, it’s made without phthalates, formaldehyde, sulfates, parabens, and talc.
Not only that, but this foundation is extremely nourishing. That’s because this foundation is also made with aloe and coconut. Your feel will feel moisturized while you get light coverage that blurs imperfections. It feels lightweight on the skin, lasts all day, and has a dewy flawless finish.
Covergirl says this foundation is ideal for all skin types, but I would steer clear if you have oily skin. Covergirl is now Leaping Bunny certified, meaning they don’t test any of their products on animals.
TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation
TruBlend Matte Made is one of Covergirl’s most famous foundation lines. Now that the famous formula is available in a matte finish, this foundation is on a whole new level. Even though this foundation has a matte finish, the foundation isn’t cakey and doesn’t feel dry on the skin. It’s a soft matte formula and is comfortable to wear all day.
It has a light coverage, but it can still blur imperfections including pores. The TruBlend Matte Made Foundation also lasts up to 12 hours. That’s because of the Flexi-hold technology. If you’re unsure if Covergirl has your shade, you’ll be happy to know that this foundation is available in 40 shades.
Clean Matte Liquid Foundation
Do you want a natural-looking liquid foundation, but you have oily skin? Covergirl offers their famous Clean Matte Liquid Foundation that still feels lightweight and breathable on the skin. If you’ve not experienced with makeup then no worries — this foundation blends effortlessly.
In addition to oily skin, this foundation is suitable for a range of skin types — including sensitive skin. This foundation is available in a wide range of shades so you’re sure to find a shade that matches your skin tone.
Clean Matte BB Cream
What if you want moisture without the dewiness? Covergirl emerges with this innovative product!
This is a water-based BB cream that feels lightweight on the skin. It blends easily and has a light coverage to even skin tone and cover imperfections. If you have acne-prone skin, you’re in luck. This product is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores and cause breakouts. There’s also a separate type of Clean Matte BB Cream for sensitive skin.
The result is a very natural-looking product that’s good for the skin.
Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Liquid Foundation
This is the foundation we mentioned in the intro, the one that took the world by storm. Covergirl teamed up with Olay to create a revolutionary foundation that also reduces your wrinkles.
The foundation is formulated with hyaluronic acid to deliver hydration while targeting aging symptoms. This foundation also contains vitamin C that brightens skin, which is ideal to target age spots and undereye circles. With multiple shades, you’re sure to find a foundation shade that matches your skin tone.
Simply Ageless Instant Wrinkle Defying Foundation
This is another effective foundation if you’re looking for youthful skin. This foundation will also combat your aging symptoms with ingredients like vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. With an SPF 28, this foundation will protect your skin against future damage.
Another reason why this foundation is so popular is that it doesn’t cake into fine lines and wrinkles. This foundation sits on top of wrinkles so your skin looks as good as new. The foundation feels moisturizing and there are multiple shades to choose from.
Outlast All-Day Ultimate Finish Foundation
If you prefer powder foundation, you’ll love this product. You can wear it over foundation or on its own. The powder has the coverage of both a liquid foundation and concealer. This formula isn’t cakey; it sets softly so you have a natural-looking finish. As the name suggests, this powder foundation lasts all day.
The powder includes a sponge applicator, though I would use a powder brush. Sponges absorb more product while brushes distribute the powder. If you insist on using a sponge, I would use a beauty blender. There are many shades in this product, so you’ll be able to find the perfect match.
Full Spectrum Matte Ambition All-Day Foundation
Covergirl’s other popular matte foundation, the Full Spectrum Foundation, has a powerful oil-absorbing formula. Your complexion will be shine-free and the foundation is comfortable to wear all day. The foundation is also long-lasting, ensuring you’ll be shine-free throughout the day.
Full Spectrum Matte Ambition All-Day Powder Foundation
This is the best product to use if you want to wear a powder foundation alone. Not only that but if you want one that has impressive coverage. The Full Spectrum Powder Foundation offers medium-to-full buildable coverage, so you don’t need a separate liquid foundation or concealer. The powder has a matte yet smooth finish so it looks natural.
Smoothers All Day Hydrating Foundation
Do you need a foundation that offers more hydration but also has better coverage than a BB cream can provide? If so, you should try the Smoothers Hydrating Foundation. Covergirl uses its revolutionary AquaCurrent Science to deliver a foundation with skincare benefits.
The formula is extremely moisturizing with light coverage that reduces the appearance of imperfections, all while looking natural. Even though it’s a hydrating foundation, your skin won’t look dewy. Instead, it has a very natural finish. This foundation is ideal for dry skin and even sensitive skin.
Smoothers BB Cream
The Smoothers BB Cream stands out because it targets 10 skincare concerns in one product. It targets dry skin and a myriad of aging concerns. And with an SPF 15, this BB cream can prevent additional aging symptoms from popping up.
This BB cream offers sheer coverage, so it’s ideal to wear as a primer or alone if you don’t need a lot of coverage. The BB cream is also a great option if you’re not experienced with makeup products, since it blends effortlessly. With a lightweight formula and a radiant finish, your skin will never look and feel better.
Aquasmooth Compact Foundation
Do you want an anti-aging foundation in a powder formula? If so, choose the Aquasmooth Compact Foundation. Covergirl made this foundation with revolutionary AquaCurrent science to enrich your skin with moisture and vitamins. With each use, your skin will improve. And with the 20 SPF, this powder will protect against future damage.
The powder formula will blur imperfections and will even out your skin tone. It applies like a liquid and sets like a powder, giving you lasting and natural coverage with your perfect shade.
Clean Liquid Makeup Foundation
If you want a water-based foundation with a natural finish, then you’ll love Covergirl’s Clean Makeup line. This foundation blends easily and is light on the skin, so it won’t clog your pores. Its non-comedogenic formula is also ideal for those who have acne-prone skin. This is also available in a sensitive-skin formula.
Clean Powder Foundation
Do you want the same benefits of the Clean Liquid Foundation, but in a powder formula? The Clean Powder Foundation offers the same benefits and more. It covers like a liquid but has the same finish like a powder. The coverage is powerful enough to even skin tone and reduces the look of imperfections.
It feels very lightweight on the skin, is ideal for many skin types including acne-prone skin, and won’t clog your pores. It’s dermatologist-tested and hypoallergenic.
Outlast Extreme Full Coverage Liquid Foundation
The Outlast Extreme Full Coverage Foundation is ideal if you want, well, full coverage. This is Covergirl’s strongest foundation with extreme staying power. The foundation is transfer-proof, sweat-proof, and even humidity-proof.
Be aware — a little goes a long way! This foundation effortlessly covers your imperfections. Plus, the foundation isn’t cakey, blends easily, and feels lightweight on the skin. I suggest applying this foundation with a brush or a Beauty Blender, though you can also apply it with your fingertips. Just make sure you wash/sanitize your hands first.
Covergirl promotes this foundation as a primer, foundation, and concealer in one, though I would still use an extra primer. With multiple shade options, you’re guaranteed to find the shade that matches your skin tone. The foundation also has an SPF 18 to protect your skin against the sun.
Alternative Brands to Covergirl
Covergirl is one of the best-known drugstore cosmetics brands in the world. While they do have good products, I’ve tried their foundation and I wouldn’t say it’s the best. Their products aren’t the worst, they just don’t have the best coverage, the packaging is pretty bad, the products are often small, and they don’t last as long. At least from my experience, that’s what I think.
That’s why it’s definitely worth it to consider other brands that make great foundation. Some notable ones include:
- Wet n’ Wild
- Fenty Beauty
- Urban Decay
Out of the drugstore brands, I think Maybelline is the most comparable to Covergirl and they have great foundation. I can’t use their foundation because unfortunately, it breaks me out. But from what I used, their coverage is great and their foundation looks natural.
Since Maybelline broke me out, I decided to mention another drugstore brand: Wet n’ Wild. I never used their foundation, but my mom likes this brand and never had any problems with their products.
If you want to spend a little more money, I suggest trying Urban Decay’s foundation. I swear by Make Up For Ever foundation, but it’s pretty pricey. The Urban Decay foundation is more affordable and it also has buildable, natural coverage. MAC is also another legendary brand and so many people swear by their foundation.
Question: Does Covergirl Have Good Foundation?
Answer: I personally don’t wear drugstore foundation. Drugstore brands always break out my skin, even the ones that say they’re non-comedogenic.
With that being said, I tried Covergirl foundation when I was younger. It’s okay; wasn’t terrible but also wasn’t anything spectacular. If you spend a little more money, you can use the Sephora Collection foundation which I personally think is significantly better and still affordable.
However, Covergirl has been rated one of the best drugstore foundation brands. That’s because Covergirl foundation generally gets good reviews since it covers well and doesn’t feel cakey.
Question: How Do I Find My Shade?
Answer: One of the issues with drugstore foundation is the store doesn’t offer samples, making it near impossible to find your perfect shade. Don’t worry, Covergirl got you. They offer a revolutionary app that scans your face at a 180-degree angle, identifying the subtleties in your skin tone. Keep in mind, I can only find the app for Apple devices.
Question: How Do I Apple Covergirl Foundation?
Answer: I follow this tutorial for all foundations. I apply the foundation to my wrist and dip my brush (or Beauty Blender) in the product. If you’re applying foundation with your fingertips, I suggest also applying the foundation on your wrist and using one or two fingers to apply the foundation. Continually dip your fingers in the product to ensure you get even coverage.
Start at the middle of your face and blend outward. Move down to your chin and blend upward, around your face and to your forehead. If necessary, apply more foundation under your eyes. Apply more foundation to any areas that are necessary.
Question: Does the Covergirl Clean Foundation Have a Lot of Coverage?
Answer: The coverage is sheer, but you can build it up to medium coverage. This means it will still cover imperfections, but you may need to use more concealer if the foundation doesn’t cover everything. I personally prefer this method to wearing a full-coverage foundation.
Question: What Drugstore Brands Also Have Good Foundation?
Answer: As stated previously, I don’t often wear a drugstore foundation. The only brand I would recommend is Physician’s Formula, since it doesn’t break me out. However, their foundation is pretty cakey. If I’m on a budget and need a foundation, I choose Sephora Collection. Even then, some of their foundations break me out, so I tend to suck it up and pay for my $40-something Make Up For Ever foundation, even when I can’t afford it.
So for this question, I’m judging by the brands that have had some of the best reviews. Revlon, Maybelline, and L’Oreal are timeless favorites. I actually used to use the Maybelline Dream Mousse Foundation. Again, it broke me out, but the coverage and finish are amazing. I also see great reviews of the Nyx foundation line. Again, I never used Nyx foundation, and I’m kind of iffy about that brand anyway.
Covergirl Foundation Line Guide: Bottomline
Covergirl has an extensive foundation line at an affordable price. Their foundations are also a part of the cruelty free International list (no testing in China) and they make foundations for just about every skin type. Almost all of their foundations are available in a wide variety of shades, so you can find the one that suits you best. Hopefully, this guide helped you choose the best Covergirl foundation for you!
