Best Chanel Hand Cream Guide For Soft Hands

According to experts, hands are the first body part to show signs of aging like age spots, wrinkles, pigmentation, and dehydrated, dry skin. But as it happens, hands are also the most ignored part of nearly everyone’s beauty routine. Our hands are the most used part of our body; they are exposed to various elements like chemicals in soap, dirt, water, and sunlight, etc.

Furthermore, the skin of our hands is different from the skin on other parts of our body, and we all know women’s skin tends to be more sensitive than men’s – that’s not to say men need not use them – they should!

Needless to say, it’s high time we start taking care of our hands, and which is one of the most widely known beauty brands across the globe? Chanel, of course! So ladies, gather around, read up, take your pick, and get your personalized hand cream before it’s too late! Luckily for you, this right here is the best comprehensive guide you can find on Chanel hand creams.

Background

Chanel is a French brand founded by Coco Chanel in 1910; this luxury brand offers a range of clothing, goods, and accessories. More recently, Chanel has come out with a line of hand creams, and we have come up with the best Chanel hand cream guide so that you can know all there is to know about each hand cream. And which skin type it is best suited for, before you head out to buy your own.

Let’s start with the first-hand cream they came out with.

La Crème Main by Chanel

La Crème Main by Chanel

This hand cream is best used for anti-aging purposes. It’s a proven remedy for thin and wrinkled skin while visibly reducing the appearance of age spots. The skin is left feeling velvety soft yet not oily or slippery.

Moreover, Chanel’s hand creams are not just beneficial for your skin; they also strengthen your nails which is a bonus, especially for home-makers who spend a significant part of their day with their hands in the water, whether doing the dishes or bathing a screaming toddler.

The scent, based on the forever iconic Chanel No.5, is truly mesmerizing. But as with everything Chanel, it is costly – hey, it’s a luxury brand, ok? – So, to the privileged buyers, I’d say go ahead and buy it! But for the more savvy consumers, it’s probably better to go with a slightly cheaper alternative.

A possible con is its hard plastic packaging that is in the shape of an oval pebble. Although it looks very cute and appealing, on the other hand, it means it’s hard to squeeze those last dredges, which probably won’t matter to the top 1%.

But for the rest of us – with the price they charge? Every last droplet counts! Furthermore, it’s more of a fragrance alternative than a hand cream for people with dryer skin. On a person with a standard skin type, I guess it will last up to 3 – 4 hours.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Glycerin, C13-16, Isoparaffin, Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Pentylene Glycol, Jojoba Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, Rosa Centifolia Flower Wax, Iris Pallida Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract, Panthenol, Polyglycerin-3, Ethyl Oleate, PEG-75 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Ethyl Stearate, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethicone, Sodium Carbomer, Ceteth-20, Stealth-20, Xanthan Gum, Parfum, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter Unsaponifiables, Ethyl Linoleate, Acacia decurrens Flower Wax, Helianthus Annuus Seed Cera, Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Citrate, Phytic Acid, Citric Acid, Tocopherol, and Sodium Benzoate.

Pros

  • Smells excellent (to those who like Chanel No.5)
  • It’s not greasy.
  • Aesthetically pleasing.
  • The packaging makes it easy to carry.
  • It would make for a lovely gift.
  • Perfect for humid climate.

Cons

  • The hard packaging means you can’t squeeze out the last remains.
  • It might be too expensive for some.
  • It’s not very hydrating.
  • The scent may be too heavy for some.

La Crème Main Texture Riche by Chanel

La Crème Main Texture Riche

Chanel came out with this richer and more hydrating version of La Crème Main for those of us with a drier skin type and who want to use the cream in the winter.

According to Chanel’s claims, this cream offers up to 8 hours of hydration, which is a fair-enough claim as you do not feel the need to re-apply throughout the day unless you wash your hands. The fragrance smells the same as La Crème Main, which is inspired by Chanel No.5.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Glycerin, Glycol Stearate Se, Isostearyl Isostearate, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Dimethicone, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Jojoba Esters, Rosa Centifolia Flower Wax, Iris Pallida Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Polyglycerin-3, Sodium Polyacrylate, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Parfum, Acacia decurrens Flower Wax, Helianthus Annuus Cera Seed Wax, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Phytic Acid, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, and II20A.

Pros

  • Richer texture means it provides more moisturization.
  • Works well with dry skin.
  • Thick yet non-greasy.

Cons

  • The scent might be too strong and floral for some peoples’ liking.
  • Not suitable for all skin types, might be too heavy for some.

Le Lift La Crème Main by Chanel

Le Lift La Crème Main by Chanel

Chanel offers a list of skincare products in their much sought-after ‘Le Lift’ collection. As its name suggests, this cream is an age-defying must-have, which replenishes, lifts, and smoothens the skin texture. This version of the hand cream comes in the same shape and packaging style as the other Chanel hand creams, except for its black-colored bottle.

Additionally, its consistency is similar to La Crème Main, in that it offers the same 3- 4 hours of velvety hydration that’s not too greasy for normal skin but leaves the dryer skin felling un-moisturized even right after you apply it to the skin.

Regarding its scent, it smells approximately similar to La Crème Main, though, where La Crème Main is very intensely floral (which might be a turn-off for some), Le Lift La Crème Main smells more softly subtle. Its scent has a fresh, zesty touch, which is a credit to its Botanical Alfalfa infused serum that parallels retinol in its benefits to the skin. This version of Chanel’s hand creams is also more suitable for people with sensitive skin as it is made from 90% natural extracts.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Alcohol, Glycerin, Propanediol, Dimethicone, Triethylhexanoin, Camellia Kissi Seed Oil, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Ipomoea Batatas Root Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Dipropylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Boron Nitride, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Parfum, Cetearyl Glucoside, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbitan Laurate, Xanthan Gum, Propylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Silk, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Acetyl Dipeptide-1 Cetyl Ester, Phytic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Citrate, Hydrochloric Acid, Citric Acid, Tocopherol, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Ci 14700 (Red 4), and Ci 19140 (Yellow 5)

Pros:

  • Visible effects; skin appears smoother and lifted.
  • Delicately faint scent.
  • Suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Easy to carry in a handbag.
  • A more natural alternative with herbal ingredients makes up 90% of the concoction.

Cons

  • Not for people with dry skin.
  • Very expensive.

My Opinion

This is a luxury item, not just in terms of its scent, but for me, a body lotion works perfectly well on my whole body except maybe my heels – but hey, that’s me! – however, even if you’re into hand creams, I’d say there are many more options available out there that are just as good with half the price.

That being said, I love the scent of the Chanel hand creams and how they leave your hands feeling velvety soft. Also, all the Chanel hand creams have a brightening effect, and the skin appears more even-toned and smoother. My favorite is Le Lift La Crème Main by Chanel because it gives off a not too overwhelming scent and, of course, for its lifting effects. I mean, what woman doesn’t want skin that’s brighter and tighter, right?

Why is Hand Cream Important?

I want to share with you why hand cream is essential.

1. Selfcare

We owe our body it! Being an adult means you need to take responsibility and this includes doing tasks like doing the dishes, doing the laundry, going for a grocery run, and sanitizing your hands. All these different chemicals that we use can leave our skin feeling dry. And that is why you need to moisturize and use hand cream.

2. It Relieves Stress

Is there anyone in this world who doesn’t stress? I doubt it! Using hand cream comforts and hydrates you, and it gives you time to take a breather and focus on something else. Which is an excellent way of relieving some of your stress.

3. Combat Aging

As I said earlier, your hands are one of the first parts of your body to show signs of aging, and that is why using hand cream is so essential. So if you have not been hydrating and moisturizing your hands, now is an excellent time to start. I’m sure you don’t want the Wrinkle family to start to make their appearance.

4. SPF Protection

Applying a hand cream to your skin that contains SPF is essential because it will not only fight the signs of aging and dryness, but it will protect your skin against sun damage. Hand creams with SPF will also hydrate and repair your skin.

5. Eczema

Okay, so having eczema means the barrier of your skin is damaged, making your skin more sensitive to bacteria and allergens. By using hand cream, your skin will be moisturized, and it will help keep the eczema under control.

FAQs

Question: Which Chanel hand cream is the best?

Answer: Chanel’s hand creams are the same in terms of packaging with variations in texture and scent to cater to people with varying requirements. If you like the smell of Chanel No.5 and have an average skin type, La Crème Main is your go-to Chanel hand cream, with Le Crème Main Riche being more suitable for dryer skin types.
Although all Chanel hand creams offer age-defying benefits with a brightening effect on your skin, La Lift Le Crème Main might be more suitable for older women looking for a tightening result and a subtler scent. You can choose whichever hand cream suits you best personally.

Question: Do Chanel creams come in a gift set?

Answer: Yes! Although being a perfect stand-alone gift for all types of fancy occasions or birthdays, Chanel also offers a gift set in a classy, elegant zip-pouch that gives a shimmering effect. The pouch includes a hand cream and a Chanel lip balm, packaged like lipstick; it’s easy to apply and can be worn underneath lipstick to make your lips appear plump and soft. This double-action gift set is a win-win!

Question: Can you refill a bottle of Chanel hand cream?

Answer: I get why you ask. Buying the Chanel hand cream might be daunting for someone who is a savvy buyer yet loves the feel and scent of the Chanel hand creams. Or perhaps you don’t particularly like the cream but, as do many; you love the egg-like shape of the packaging and want to fill it with some other product? Sorry to disappoint, but no, the hard plastic has to be cut open to reach inside.

Question: What does the Chanel hand cream smell like?

Answer: La Crème Main and La Crème Main Riche, both smell the same. The fragrance is strong, and the projection is of Chanel’s infamous perfume No.5. However, Le Lift La Crème Main, more of an herbal option, smells more citrusy and soft.
Chanel also offers a limited edition hand cream, No.5 L’Eau On Hand Cream, which is subtler although it smells the same as the perfume it’s named after. It also smells distinctly powdery than the perfume and the other similarly scented Chanel hand creams.

Question: How long does the hydrating effect of the Chanel hand cream last?

Answer: Chanel claims that its La Crème Main Riche gives a lasting moisturizing effect on the skin for up to 8 hours. It is certainly thicker and richer in texture than all other Chanel hand creams while still avoiding the oily feeling. Of course, you do need to re-apply after washing your hands.
However, all other Chanel hand creams are more suitable to the average, standard skin type and are hydrating for 3 – 4 hours while not feeling hydrating at all to dryer skin.

Conclusion

If you like to feel fancy and want to splurge, go ahead and buy it! The Chanel hand creams are, without a doubt, a feel-good item and not a waste of your money. Nonetheless, some things lacking in all Chanel hand creams are: they don’t offer SPF protection.

If you wear it during the day, it has to work as a suitable sunscreen substitute and a simple hand cream, but it falls short in this department. Moreover, while appearing elegant and travel-friendly, the packaging doesn’t allow you to squeeze the cream out of the bottle when your cream is running low.

But the final decision is yours! You have the guide, now you just need to decide. What is your opinion on the Chanel hand cream? Will you buy it for yourself, or maybe for a friend or family member as a gift? Let us know in the comments below.
